Tech for brain health: my ALZ journey
what is the My ALZ Journey app?
If you or someone you love has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), or another form of dementia, you are not alone on this journey. The My ALZ Journey® app, launched in May 2025 by the Alzheimer’s Association®, is a free tool that provides resources and support for anyone living with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia, as well as their care partners.
This easy-to-use app was created with real input from people living with dementia and their care partners. It is free to download and built with simplicity in mind, especially if technology sometimes feels like too much to tackle.
how is the app organized?
The app has four simple sections to avoid overwhelming users. Here is what each section offers:
- HOME – Start here. Follow a simple, step-by-step roadmap from the moment of diagnosis. Explore topics in any order, at your own pace.
- LIBRARY – An easy-to-browse collection of helpful articles and answers to common questions about Alzheimer’s, dementia, and caregiving. You can also create an Action Plan and find guidance on legal and financial planning. The content updates over time to match wherever you are on your journey.
- COMMUNITY – Connect with your nearest Alzheimer’s Association® chapter right here in Hawaiʻi. Find local support groups, events, and programs in our island community.
- ACTIVITY CENTER – Discover fun, brain-stimulating activities and helpful planning tools. These interactive exercises and caregiving strategies can help you stay engaged, sharp, and positive.
how do i get started?
Getting started is simple. Just download the app on your smartphone or tablet. You will be asked some short questions about your daily routine and how much help you currently need. Your answers help the app personalize the experience to fit your role and situation.
There’s no need to create a username or password. And rest assured: nothing you do in the app can be traced back to you.

a few helpful tips
- The app works on smartphones and tablets only. It does not work on a desktop computer.
- Use it on one device at a time. If you download it on multiple devices, it will not sync between them.
- This app is for education and support. It does not replace your doctor’s advice or medical care. Think of it as one more helpful tool in your toolkit alongside your healthcare team.
Mahalo nui loa for taking this important step to stay informed and supported. You are not alone. Your ʻohāna and your community are here to walk this path with you.
